Semiannual Update

Hello fellow atheists, agnostics and freethinkers,

It’s been a great few months and I wanted to highlight some of the things we have done and things we are planning for everyone.

Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) Chapter

I have been working on putting together the necessary paperwork to create a chapter of FFRF in our group.  Not everyone who joins our group will automatically be in the chapter (as we can have “guests”) but being a chapter of FFRF will provide us with some great benefits and help us reach more people in the local area.  However, I need you help to get things started.

If you are already a member of FFRF please let me know.  We need at least 10 local members of the national organization to be recognized.  If you are a member please send me an email at joe@fvaaf.org and let me know.

Also I’m looking for members of FFRF to act as references for my application to found the chapter.  I’m look for people how have at least attended one of our meetings and have met me at least once.  Their review board has to approve me before the chapter can be founded.  If you are interested in being a reference please let me know at joe@fvaaf.org and I’ll send you my resume and biography (the stuff I’m sending them) so that you can get to know me better.

Recognizing Volunteers

A group like ours thrives on the time and energy that our volunteers put into it and I want to recognize some of the hard work that people have done.

 Lauren – Facebook Page Manager

Our Facebook page has been neglected since our group was founded. I would like to thank Lauren who has graciously volunteered to manage the page and she will be made admin in the near future.

Sandy – Printed Media Designer

I don’t think everyone has seen them yet but Sandy has been working on some business style cards and a brochure for the group.  I got a chance to see the cards a while back and they looked SMASHING! (which is British for awesome I believe)  Anyway I want to thank Sandy for her hard work.

Jerry – Co-Organizer

I want to personally thank Jerry for always being at meetings when I cannot.  Jerry has offered up his home as a meeting place for movie nights and cookouts.  His dedication and personality are what makes this group great and what make him a great friend.

Become a Volunteer!

If you would like to contribute your time, your place or ideas, we encourage it!

Our group could use another event organizer to suggest meeting ideas, locations and times.  If you are interested just let me know and I’ll set you up!

Wouldn’t mind a bunch a people in your house for an evening?  Let me know and we’ll set up an event at your place.

Do you get the occasional itch to write, blog or comment on the state of the world?  I am always looking for people who want to contribute on www.fvaaf.org  so if you’ve got the itch tell me.

Last but not least!

The other reason I send out these emails every 6 months is because that is when our meetup dues come in.  I’ll keep this short and sweet.  There is a donate button on our site (fvaaf.org), it lists our operating costs (for every six months). Donate if you choose.  Also at the next meeting I’ll pass around the old “tithing” hat.  ABSOLUTELY NO OBLIGATION.  Only give if you can and care to.  All of it goes to fund group activities.

AND NOW FOR FUNNY INTERNET MEMES FOR GIGGLE MAKING

It a quote from Futurama… ohh Bender!
